Show Appreciation for Caregivers During This Christmas

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Caregivers give 110% of their effort in their job all the time. For this Christmas, we want to share some tips on how we can display our appreciation for their hard work.

Although caregiving seems like a daily routine, many different challenges arise every day. Listen to the caregivers.  Create a channel of communication between the two sides to understand feelings, frustration, and everything that is going on.  Being there for them as support is critical in creating a great relationship among everyone involved.  Furthermore, it is always great to give them positive reinforcements. Let them know the appreciation of their positive impact they make their job caring for your elderly loved ones.  Finally, offer your help.  Even though they are the caregivers, it is impossible for them to handle all the tasks on hand.  Research about a medication, help out with the mail, help shop at the grocery store, etc.  Caring for a senior can be exhausting, and any bit of help can mean a great deal to the caregivers!

We can never have too many quality caregivers on our team.  A-1 Home Care is always looking for experienced and skilled caregivers to fill positions around Los Angeles and Orange County.  We have positions in Alzheimer Care, After Surgery Care, Incontinence Care, Brain Surgery Care, Arthritis Care, Kidney Disease Care, Hospice Care,  Post Stroke Care, and other specific elderly needs.  Moreover, we provide flexible scheduling, finding you jobs that can fit your schedule and not burn you out.  Our company has been in business since 1991, and you can have the confidence in us to find your the best caregiving jobs around town.

Dealing With The Aftermath of Stress Related Caregiver Blowup

Everybody has a snapping point.  When you are a caregiver, stress is a very real part of the job, even if you are a professional.  So if you become overwhelmed from your job, there is a possibility that you could have an angry outburst.  While some people can contain or cope with their emotions, others can snap quickly and regret it afterward.  However, you would be surprised about how many people do not apologize afterward.  A sincere apology after a blowup not only can patch things up with the care recipients and their loved ones, but it can also reveal to them the challenges and frustration you are experiencing, allowing them to understand the situation and provide more support as a result.

At A-1 Home Care, we do our best to help caregivers avoid burnout by strategically schedule different caregivers to relieve one another, while providing them a steady schedule to work with.  Whether it is a 24 hour live-in or hourly live-out client, we will make sure you will have adequate support to minimize your chances for stress.  We require at least 2 years of caregiving experience, CPR certification, TB clearance, and a clean criminal background.  In addition, we cover all of Los Angeles and Orange County, so finding a job that you can travel to in reasonable time should be no problem. If you are interested in joining our staff of caregivers in working in a rewarding field, contact us for more information.

The Best Tip for a Caregiver – Take Care of Yourself

????????????????????????????????????????

When taking care of an elderly person suffering from different ailments, the caregiver often neglect their own well being in attempt to provide the best care for the care recipient.  However, when a caregiver is burned out, the quality of care decreases, and their health deteriorate as a result.  Because the ultimate goal is to provide the best quality care for the senior, caregivers need to learn how to find time to sustain their own well beings.  According to WebMD, exercise can help a caregiver feel healthier, sleep better, and thus feel more rejuvenated.  If you are not getting enough sleep, a power nap during the day can help recharge your battery and get the energy to perform the different duties as a caregiver.  In addition, don’t forget to eat.  Many caregivers become so busy that they simply forget to eat sometimes.  Remind yourself that you should have healthy meals and snacks throughout the day to provide the adequate energy to sustain the day.  In addition, during your free time, finding ways to relax from listening to music to going to church can let you stay involved with your own personal life.  Finally, remember to get regular medical checkups.  Staying healthy and fixing any issues you might be experiencing can only help you at your job as a caregiver.

Being a quality caregiver requires experience, personality, and effort.  A-1 Home Care is always looking to hire more quality caregivers to join our staff and help out clients around Los Angeles and Orange County.  Our business specializes in services such as Diabetic Care, Parkinson’s Care, After Surgery Care, Alzheimer’s CareBrain Injury Care, Heart Attack Care, Cancer Care, Incontinence Care, Kidney Disease Care, Multiple Sclerosis Care, and other in home care needs.  So if you are looking to become an in home caregiver and work in a rewarding role in helping senior in needs, A-1 Home Care is your best bet.

Managing Elderly Insomnia for Caregivers

a-1 home care

When you are a caregiver that provides round the clock care, one of the issues you may have to deal with include helping an Elderly individual deal with Insomnia and sleep related issues.  Insomnia can be caused by a variety of factors included medication, anxiety/depression, chronic pain, and sedentary lifestyles that lack sufficient exercise.  So what have you done under circumstances where someone you are providing care for wakes up feeling agitated in the middle of the night?

After you’re sure that it wasn’t just a one night issue and that it is legitimately a problem that keeps happening, you need to find out what may be causing it.  If the issue is medication, perhaps a doctor visit and an alternative type of medication can alleviate the problem.  Lifestyle changes such as encouraging your loved one to read before bed instead of watching television, restricting caffeine, food, and drink consumption at hours close to bed time, and daily exercise may be effective solutions.  Check this article titled Insomnia: The Caregiver’s Role for more advice.  According to the article, sleep aids such as sleeping pills should be avoided because the body can eventually become resistant to them.

Helping with Elderly Holiday Blues

a-1 home care

The holiday season is almost over!  We just have New Year’s left, but if things went smoothly during Thanksgiving and Christmas time, congratulations.  The holiday season can be a very difficult time for Elderly individuals who have limited contact with family members.  The loneliness heightens especially if the Elder individual has lost a significant other or close friends in recent times.  They may spend too much time dwelling upon nostalgic memories of joyous Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas gatherings, and welcoming the New Year in good company.

As caregivers, it’s our duty during this time to understand what these Elderly people are going through and be able to prevent, recognize, and manage depression during the holidays.  This article titled Holiday Blues and the Elderly provides some background on why this time of the year is so difficult for some, provides some signs to look out for that may indicate your loved one is depressed, and ways to help them cope.  Try to get into contact with the nearest relatives and alert them of the situation.  If they live far, suggest a phone call to the Elderly individual to try and get them excited for participation in holiday activities.  This provides reassurance that they are loved and not forgotten.  While it’s just you and the Elderly individual, think of holiday activities that you can participate in such as shopping, window shopping, playing holiday games, watching holiday programs, etc.

A-1 Home Care Jobs always has employment opportunities for caregivers, nurse aides, and companions with prior experience in Orange County and Los Angeles County cities such as Los Angeles, Hollywood, Palos Verdes, Monrovia, Burbank, Tarzana, Covina, Diamond Bar, Anaheim Hills, Villa Park, Garden Grove, and Newport Beach.  Our caregivers must have prior experience, verifiable professional references, a National Background Check and DMV Check, Tuberculosis testing, Malpractice/Liability insurance, First Aid/CPR training, and a personal interview with our office staff.

A-1 Home Care is a Licensed Bonded and Insured non-medical homecare agency that has been in business since 1991 with an A+ Rating from the Better Business Bureau, Shield Accreditation, and memberships with the National Care Planning Council and Chamber of Commerce of Newport Beach, Pasadena, Santa Fe Springs, and Torrance.  If you’re compassionate, experienced, reliable, and dedicated, we may have a job for you.  We specialize in all types of Elder Care services such as Alzheimer’s Care, Parkinson’s Care, Hospice Care, Cancer Care, Diabetic Care, Post Stroke Care, Arthritis Care, and Incontinence Care.

Caring for the Elderly During the Holidays

a-1 home care

For some Elderly individuals, the holiday season that includes Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s might not be as joyous a time as it is for others.  Especially for those who have limited contact with relatives or who have lost a friend or spouse, the holidays can be a time where feelings of sadness and depression are heightened.

As caregivers, we must understand this.  If you’re caring for an Elderly, Senior, or Terminally Ill individual this holiday season, you must be on the lookout for signs of depression.  This article titled Holiday Blues and the Elderly provides an insight into the root of Elderly depression during the holidays and some ways to alleviate it.  Be sure to stay in contact with family members.  The depression can be so serious, that you may have to contact the Elderly individual’s doctor to see what can be done.  It can be so minor that you just need to keep them occupied.  Participate in holiday activities with them, keep them up to date with family activities, encourage family members and children to visit more often, get out of the house more often and take the Elderly individuals to places where holiday spirits are high, and be sure to take of yourself as well!

At A-1 Home Care Jobs, we want to wish you a happy holiday season.  We are always hiring compassionate and experienced caregivers, nurse aides, and companions for in-home care in Orange County and Los Angeles County.  We are a non-medical homecare agency that has been in business since 1991.  We provide our clients with 24 hour live-in care or hourly part-time care services such as Alzheimer’s Care, After Surgery Care, Parkinson’s Care, Arthritis Care, Diabetic Care, Cancer Care, Incontinence Care, Hospice Care, and Post Stroke Care.

All of our caregivers must have prior experience, verifiable professional references, a National Background Check and DMV Check, Tuberculosis testing, Malpractice/Liability insurance, First Aid/CPR training, and a personal interview with our office staff.
